Terms of service

Translation provided for convenience. The German version is legally binding.

1. Scope

These terms govern the use of the NormAPI services — the validation and generation API for electronic invoices, the website, and the partner account. The offering is directed exclusively at businesses (Unternehmer within the meaning of § 14 BGB); contracts with consumers are excluded.

2. Service

NormAPI validates electronic invoices (XRechnung, ZUGFeRD) against the current official KoSIT ruleset and generates invoices in these formats from structured data. The ruleset version in force is stated in every API response. We track ruleset updates; their timing is at our discretion.

During the beta phase, use is free of charge; there is no claim to availability, specific response times, or unchanged functionality in this phase.

3. Account and API keys

Access to the partner account is currently by invitation. API keys must be kept secret and not passed to third parties; the account holder is responsible for actions taken under a key. If compromise is suspected, a key can be revoked in the account at any time. We may suspend keys in cases of abuse or danger to the service.

4. Acceptable use

The published or individually agreed usage limits (rate limits, quotas) apply. Prohibited in particular: circumventing usage limits, submitting unlawful content, and reselling the service without a separate agreement.

5. Prices and payment

For paid plans, the prices on the pricing page apply, net of VAT. Payment is processed by our payment provider Paddle acting as merchant of record; its terms additionally apply to the payment transaction. No fees are charged during the beta; conditions promised to design partners remain unaffected.

6. Term and termination

Paid plans run monthly and can be cancelled at any time effective at the end of the current billing month. The right to extraordinary termination remains unaffected. Refunds are governed by the refund policy.

7. No tax or legal advice

NormAPI is a technical tool. Validation results reflect the state of the machine-checkable ruleset and are no substitute for tax or legal advice. Responsibility for the content and lawfulness of issued invoices remains with the user.

8. Warranty and liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body, or health. In cases of simple negligence we are liable only for the breach of essential contractual obligations (obligations whose fulfilment makes proper performance of the contract possible in the first place), limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract. Liability for data loss is limited to the effort that would have been required had the user performed proper backups. During the free beta phase we are otherwise liable only for intent and gross negligence.

9. Changes to these terms

We announce changes to these terms in text form at least four weeks before they take effect. If the user does not object before the effective date, the changed terms apply; the announcement will separately point out this right to object and its consequences. In case of objection, either party may terminate effective on that date.

10. Final provisions

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Should individual provisions be invalid, the remainder of the contract remains effective. Contact for all matters: kontakt@normapi.de.
